Bottles, bottles, bottles!
You might have guessed that I am ranting about stupid bottles! Not that act of making and giving them to my little prince. No, the stupid bottles themselves. You get this drop in liner bottle system thinking this is all great and wonderful, I don't have to sterilize any bottles! Just plop in a new liner each time you make a bottle! First of all, this is by no means economical. You have to BUY the liners, and for a SAH mom like me, money is ALWAYS an issue. But I fell for it hook, line and sinker. Until I woke up, that is. There I am one day, baby screaming in the next room, and I have prepped bottles lined up for efficiency. Just add water, shake and serve. Unless the liner has a blasted hole in it, that is. Then, you add water, begin shaking, make a huge mess, cuss under your breath (there is a baby in the next room, after all, must keep this G rated) and try to quickly think of a way to save the formula you just made. You can't, it's too late. I hate wasting formula, as it is expensive and throwing ANY away is, you guessed it, not economical when you are on a budget. But what can you do when you have partially mixed stuff squirting all over he counter and your freshly donned shirt?! Drop the whole thing in the sink and start again. It's probably just a fluke, so let it go and move on. Then it happened again, twice in one day. One 4oz liner and one 8oz liner both sprung leaks on me. Swell. The cussing got a little louder, but I still kept it G rated. This time I picked up the box of liners and with incredible force, threw them in the rubbish. There, all done. But that's not to say that the other bottles are any better just because there are no liners. Uh-uh. No matter how hard you screw that nipple on and even holding your finger over the nipple hole, it still comes spewing out from somewhere and gets all over me and the counter. If I knew where it was coming from I would stop the leak somehow, like duct tape or something. Anything to keep the liquid INSIDE the vessel. It won't be soon enough that he will move on to cups and I can put this whole bottle thing behind me for good.
